The Pennyroyal Charity Horse Show is set as the inaugural show of the 2023 season, March 3-4, 2023 at Oak Grove Equestrian Center in Oak Grove, Kentucky. The show is in it’s second year as a new fundraiser for Pennyroyal Hospice (a 501(c)3).

Casey Jones Distillery, Hopkinsville, Kentucky, is the official spirit of The Pennyroyal and will host the Exhibitors’ Party on Thursday, March 2, beginning at 6:00PM. Dinner will be provided. Cash bar available. Free to attend but must reserve ticket as capacity is limited. Contact Jennifer by text or phone at 931-205-3493 or email thepennyroyal22@gmail.com to reserve your free ticket.

Stalls are available at $45/night and includes 2 bags of shavings. Additional shavings may be purchased through the show office for $6.50/bag. If working from your trailer, there is a $27 grounds fee per horse, per day (arena required). Stall deadline is Wednesday, February 23. Stalls may be reserved by calling or texting 931-205-3493 or email thepennyroyal22@gmail.com.

WKDZ and WHVO radio stations will be broadcasting live from The Pennyroyal from 3-5:00 PM both Friday and Saturday of the show, including interviews with trainers and exhibitors.

The National Trainers’ Show will have Stick Horse Class on Saturday night, March 18, 2023. It will be the first class of the evening. A big thank you to Dr. John Bennett for sponsoring the class.

Owingsville Lions Club Horse Show offers $1,000 incentives


 

The Owingsville Lions Club will be held Friday and Saturday, July 8 & 9, in Owingsville, Ky. Judges will be Johnny Puckett and Rodney Dick. The show will start at 6:00 pm. There are 62 classes for Walking Horses and Racking Horses with both pleasure and performance divisions.

Special incentives are:

$1000 to Pleasure trainer with the most entries;
$1000 to Performance trainer with the most entries;
$265 to the winners of the:
Two-Year-Old Mares & Geldings,
Two-Year-Old Stallions,
Three-Year-Old Open,
Four-year-Old Open.
$1,400 to the winner of the Specialty Stake Class if 8 entries make the gate
Riders’ Cup points

The Owingsville Lions Club feels that these incentives will make a great show for those in attendance to watch, and help the exhibitor want to come. Stalls in tents on the grounds are still available but make reservations now.
Show headquarters are at the Holiday Inn in Mt. Sterling, KY. Mention the show for special rates.

The Christmas In July Horse Show, scheduled for June 28-30 at the Bedford County Ag Center in Shelbyville, Tennessee, has selected Chris Bobo, Johnny Puckett and Paul Robbins to mark the cards for this year’s event.

Money Tree Classic picks Jamie Bradshaw, Robert Cortner and Mike Hilley

The Money Tree Classic that is scheduled for July 1, 2022 at Calsonic Arena in Shelbyville, Tennessee has selected Jamie Bradshaw, Robert Cortner and Mike Hilley to mark the cards for the event.

The show is put on by the Walking Horse Trainers’ Auxiliary and is the largest event for the group each year. Proceeds from the show go to therapeutic riding programs, scholarships and many other great causes.

The FAST Spring Showcase is scheduled for April 15 and 16 at Calsonic Arena in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Rollie Beard, Rod Slagle and Sam Sorrell were the original slate of judges. Due to a conflict, Beard is no longer able to judge the show and Robert Cortner will now take Beard’s place on the panel.

SHOW issues clarification on pleasure horse rules


 

The SHOW Rules Committee was recently forwarded a question regarding the equipment allowed in the pleasure divisions. The request came about from a question at the SHOW judges training on March 5, 2022. As a result of the question the following rulebook clarification was recommended by the SHOW Rules Committee to the SHOW
Executive Committee. The addition was passed by the Executive Committee and will be ratified by the full board at the next called meeting:

Effective Immediately (March 11, 2022)-

Pleasure Division:
Pleasure Horse Tails
The use of faux tails weighted and non-weighted shall be acceptable. The use of a tail tie shall be acceptable with the following stipulations.

1. Tie must be applied after DQP inspection
2. The material used in the tie must not be visible
3. The tail must lay in a natural position not pulled forward between hind legs.

The combination of tie and faux tail will not be allowed.




Industry mourns owner, promotor, exhibitor friend, Mark Williams

Arnold Mark Williams, age 67 of Shelbyville, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.  Mark was born in Memphis, Tennessee on November 15, 1954 to the late Ben and Annalee (Carmen) Williams.

Mark and his wife Deborah were the owner and operators of A to Z Embroidery and life-long supporters and enthusiasts of the Tennessee Walking Horse.  He was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his brother, Ben Gaia Williams. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-six years, Deborah Williams; daughter, Kristin Williams of Shelbyville; granddaughters, Haley Helton and Presley Brantley, both of Shelbyville; and brother, Danny Williams of Florida.

Genevieve Elizabeth Morton, was born on Tuesday January 4, 2022 at 7:33pm to proud parents Ronald and Stephanie Morton of Hampshire, Tennessee. She weighed 7 pounds 14 ounces and measured 21 inches in length.
